Hello ART FRIENDS!
I have loved art since I was a young girl. When I was 4, I spent one afternoon drawing a beautiful antique lamp that sat on an end table in my grandmother’s living room. When I finished, I rushed off to show her my penned creation. Her loving praise that day began my eye for detail & passion for art.
By the time I was in fourth grade I decided to be an Art teacher because I figured that was the best job that existed. I entered drawing contests, took every art class available including Graphic Design in my High school Vocational program. Two years of intense training led me to freelance illustrating, which offered many opportunities to design business cards and signs, the Santa Claus trailer, and illustrations that were published in a manual for the Department of Conservation in Missouri.
I went on to Brigham Young University and there I met my best friend, Eldon, and married him. The next years we focused on family and raised 5 beautiful children (I cannot think of a more beautiful creation than that). When friends discovered my background, they began asking me to teach lessons to their children. I taught private and community classes and was then asked to run the Art program at Fine Arts for Children in Edmonton, Alberta. Later, we moved to Utah and settled here in Mapleton.
I have taught community Art classes and taught Art in the Elementary schools for the Nebo School District for 16 years. A few years ago, I decided to embark on teaching Children’s Art Classes in my own Studio. Today it is lovingly named The Doodling Den.
I love seeing the same excitement and self-esteem that children gain from creating their own masterpieces. It brings great joy to that little girl who grew to love and develop that gift.
